A question recently came to mind when I was scanning my home energy bill.  Have you ever taken a look at your home energy bill details and really understood all the ins and outs of how the provider charges you for service?  Peak time this and variable that... Well, I got to thinking... If I'm having such a difficult time really understanding my home energy usage and service, how would a manufacturing plant get started on a Corporate Energy Management Initiative?

Where would you start?

What would you need to know?

What would you do with the information once you had it?

In the last few months, i have been asking the question for my own home, how do i get granularity of energy consumption without spending 10k? Interestingly, i found several home meters on the web that would give my family the ability to see total energy consumption but no granularity. I beleive when someone takes control of their individual consumption, we come closer to building a culture of energy awareness in our workplace. I could use WW CEM in my home but the metering granularity would be a problem. I wonder if this is the same story in manufacturing?
