InSource Solutions Now Using Voice over IP Technology to Enhance Customer Service & Improve Operational Performance

As a small to medium sized company, InSource Solutions has learned that superior customer service is one of the major hallmarks of success. The ability to anticipate and address customer needs, as well offer more personalized and customized service, helps us as a business to differentiate ourselves from other companies. In an effort to better serve our customers, InSource Solutions has now adopted a Voice over IP phone system. With 5 offices, our staff must cover a lot of terrain in terms of sales, technical support, customer care, and administration. With the help of this technology and our new phone system now in place, coordinating communications between our locations and with our customers becomes easier and more efficient.

InSource Solutions has also deployed Contact Center Suite, a software-based application that blends incoming voice and email traffic. Dunn Dillard, InSource Solutions executive vice president and chief financial officer, talks about the benefits of the Contact Center Suite software. “Contact Center Suite has been beneficial from a number of perspectives,” says Dillard. “Agents are able to handle more queries in less time, which certainly improves the overall productivity and efficiency of our organization. For example, the application’s intelligent call routing feature ensures that calls are directed to the right individual or department every time, saving many steps in servicing our customers. Plus, Contact Center Suite has a number of reporting features which allows us to assess the efficiency of the organization and shift resources depending on the volume we’re encountering.” This benefits our customers because calls are directed to the right employee or department.

InSource is constantly adopting new technologies all in an effort to better serve our customers. If you have any comments, concerns, or questions about these changes, please contact the marketing department at marketing@insourcess.com.

Wonderware Unveils IndustryPack for Water & Wastewater Applications

On June 9, 2008, Wonderware announced the release of the Wonderware IndustryPack for Water & Wastewater designed to enhance overall productivity in facility operations for the water and wastewater industry. This is the first in a series of IndustryPacks to be introduced by Wonderware that will focus on specific vertical market segments. Wonderware is providing a single unified software platform for integrating real-time information with business critical applications.

The Wonderware Water & Wastewater IndustryPack, which will be available to download for customer support members later this month, is a pre-configured set of application templates and graphics specifically built for use by water and wastewater companies and municipalities. Pre-configured content enables system engineers to minimize the overall cost and complexities associated with creating and managing water and wastewater systems. In addition, it will address critical issues facing this industry such as workforce attrition, regulatory requirements, business factors, source water supply, and aging infrastructure.

Targeting municipal water and wastewater operations as well as industrial water and waste treatment, the Wonderware IndustryPack leverages ArchestrA technology for greater productivity and ease of use. The unified ArchestrA software architecture simplifies the reporting and management functions performed by operations personnel, enabling them to build systems that are easy to replicate at multiple industry sites.

For manufacturing environments, synchronization of water treatment systems with overall manufacturing operations provides greater operations efficiency and regulatory compliance. Wonderware software can integrate most any data source, and transform raw data and events into meaningful information that helps reduce operations costs, identifies hidden inefficiencies, and enables more cost-effective operations. Extensive flexibility and scalability enables users to expand operations or change work processes as their operational requirements change.

More than 28,000 Wonderware software licenses are in use at water and wastewater sites around the world to manage plant operations. Offering one-click software upgrades since 1990, Wonderware ensures that water system operators can continue to depend on the experience of a proven software platform and personal support through a worldwide network of local distributors and systems integrators. This provides flexibility both in the way solutions are built, as well as in the ability to choose how to implement and maintain systems.

For more information on the Wonderware IndustryPack for Water and Wastewater, please contact your Wonderware Southeast Account Executive or the marketing department at marketing@insourcess.com.

Advantech Launches Industrial Power-over-Ethernet Splitter

Advantech has released the EKI-2701PSI Industrial Power-over-Ethernet (PoE) splitter, which offers the convenience of a single cable to supply both power and data to connected devices and equipment.

PoE is a relatively new technology to industrial and plant-floor environments, but has proven itself in commercial and enterprise applications over the past several years. Using the unused wires in a 10/100 Base-T cable, or by overlaying power on the data connections, PoE supplies 15.4W of power at 48VDC.

This technology is extremely useful for powering network devices and equipment where it may be inconvenient, expensive, or seemingly impossible to supply power separately. Connected between a standard Ethernet device and a PoE powered connection, the EKI-2701PSI operates as a “splitter”, separating the PoE connection into a standard RJ45 Ethernet port and a removable screw terminal block capable of supplying nearly 13W at 24VDC.

Packaged in a thin DIN-rail mount chassis, the EKI-2701PSI is ideal where panel space is limited. It supports both standard 10/100 Base-T and gigabit 1000 Base-T connections. It is also ruggedized for demanding industrial applications, with 4,000 VDC Ethernet ESD protection, power line surge (EFT) protection of 3,000 VDC, power isolation, and output power short circuit protection. For maximum uptime in unattended and remote locations, it also features an extended operating temperature range of -40 to 75 degrees C. The EKI-2701PSI splitter is an ideal means to gain the benefits of PoE with standard Ethernet devices in harsh industrial environments.

For more information on the PoE splitter or any other Advantech product, please contact your local InSource Solutions I2 Infrastructure Specialist or the marketing department at marketing@insourcess.com.

tween Beijing and Tianjin and will serve as the key transportation corridor for visitors attending the Olympic Games in August. This is the first high-speed railway established in China connecting these two major cities and is approximately 100 miles long.

Wonderware System Platform 3.0, Wonderware Historian and InTouch 10.0 HMI will be installed at four railway stations and will operate the “Passenger Information System.” Wonderware software will provide an integrated platform that supports the railway’s public address system, passenger information video displays of train arrivals and departures, closed-circuit television monitoring, and other functions that support operations at each station along the railway route.

The Ministry of Railways in China is responsible for passenger services, regulation of the country’s rail industry, development of the rail network, and the overall rail infrastructure. It selected Wonderware software for a scalable information system that will integrate vital station communications systems into a central computer at each location, and is designed to be easily upgraded as requirements change in station operations.

The China Ministry of Railways needed a system that could be implemented quickly, provide effective integration with current equipment, and offer a user-friendly operator interface. The Wonderware software solution delivered a customized system that addressed all of the requirements and is scheduled to be up and running quickly to meet the August deadline.

The Wonderware System Platform 3.0 software provides centralized management capabilities that enable operators to monitor and control station assets and communication equipment such as terminal equipment that includes speakers, plasma display panels, and security cameras. InTouch 10.0 HMI will provide visualization and supervisory control functions, and features easy-to-use and simple-to-configure graphics for all monitoring equipment. The Wonderware Historian will be used to acquire real-time station asset data for trending and data analysis, as well as the development of operations reports.

“With the implementation of the Wonderware System Platform based on the highly scalable ArchestrA software architecture, China’s Ministry of Railways is laying a solid technology foundation for the future growth of the unified station management system,” said Steve Garbrecht, Wonderware director of product marketing. “The object-based technology capability of ArchestrA enhances overall engineering and lowers administration costs by simplifying the process of rolling out updates to other stations.”
