On July 1st, 2008, Wonderware launched the Wonderware Customer First Program, a new multi-level software maintenance and support program to help customers receive maximum value from their Wonderware software solutions.

In addition, Wonderware announced the Wonderware Developer Network, an innovative online environment that provides extensive resources and a venue for collaboration for members of the Wonderware Customer First program which include customers, systems integrators, third-party suppliers, and Wonderware experts.

The Wonderware Customer First program offers support options tailored to meet specific customer needs, including 24/7 support, a dedicated technical account management team, critical incident response, software updates, and advice on software architecture and security. The program is designed to exceed traditional, reactive support programs by providing assistance and expertise during the planning, building, commissioning, operation, and evolution of customer applications. The Wonderware Customer First program offers four distinct levels of support to help clients sustain and improve manufacturing operations and industrial infrastructure operations.

Members of the program can choose the most appropriate level based on project milestones, complexity of the production operation, maturity of the application, and the expertise of a client’s resources.

“The goal in launching the Wonderware Customer First support program is to provide excellence in support and services that meet and exceed customer requirements throughout the lifecycle of an application,” said Mike Pring, Vice President, Wonderware Customer Support and Services.

The Wonderware Developer Network Web site enables members to access a large volume of valuable electronic and human resources to help them extract the greatest amount of return from their software investment.

“The collaborative nature of the Wonderware Development Network is a significant step in productivity for Wonderware Customer First members,” said Tim Sowell, Vice President, Wonderware Solution Strategy and Ecosystem. “This new online community brings together the most active and innovative people in the Wonderware engineering ecosystem including customers, system integrators, developers, and architects from all over the world. It provides access to a tremendous range of new resources, enables the sharing of ideas and examples to encourage innovation, accelerates project planning and execution, and assists all members o the Wonderware ecosystem to achieve successful software implementations.”

The Wonderware Customer First support team leverages more than 20 years of experience by Wonderware in assisting over 100,000 clients in 180 countries through each phase of their application lifecycle, from start-up to ongoing improvements of mission-critical operations. EtherNet/IP Protocol Added to Family of IP67 Harsh Duty BradControl I/O Modules

The BradControl HarshIO 600 eIP provides a reliable solution for connecting industrial controllers to I/O devices in harsh duty environments.

IP67 I/O modules can typically be found on the factory floor level, where the modules can be mounted directly on machines. Without taking space in a control cabinet, the overall

machine design can become smaller when IP67 I/O modules are used.

The BradControl HarshIO 600 eIP supports the EtherNet/IP protocol and is available in several I/O configurations supporting both PNP and NPN inputs. Each module comes equipped with diagnostic LEDs, providing status information on network, power, inputs, and outputs. A built-in web server allows the user to monitor, configure, and obtain diagnostics information on the module remotely.

For quick and easy-to-view status and configuration information on the I/O block, a window displaying 4-character scrolling text is included. Two push buttons found above the display window can be used to quickly adjust the last octet of the block’s IP address or scroll through and view the Ethernet configuration mode.

A key component of the Industrial Ethernet infrastructure is the use of Industrial Ethernet switches. Switches intelligently route Ethernet messages, eliminate collisions, and provide deterministic performance of the network. Each BradControl HarshIO 600 eIP comes equipped with a built-in 2-port Ethernet switch. Features of the switch include auto-sensing the speed of the network and determining the cable type used for the physical connection.

For more information on the BradControl HarshIO 600 eIP or any other Molex product, please contact your InSource Solutions I2 Infrastructure Specialist or the marketing department at marketing@insourcess.com.

Advantech Releases 4 New Ethernet Switches

Advantech has released four new Ethernet switches. These switches are de

signed for automation applications, with integrated 100Mbps fiber optic ports. The EKI-7554MI, EKI-7559MI, and EKI-7559SI units have a compact and hardened construction able to operate between –40 and 75 degrees Celsius.

These devices provide advanced traffic control for optimum network performance and security. They also have a self-healing fiber optic ring capability to maximize network uptime even in adverse conditions. The 7554 units have four 10/100Base-TX ports and two 100Base-FX fiber optic ports, while the 7559 units have eight 10/100Base-TX ports and two fiber optic ports.

The dual fiber ports can connect multiple switches in a self-healing ring configuration. This will establish a redundant secondary communications path in case the first is broken. Fiber optic technology extends communications capabilities beyond the 100m limits of copper CAT5 cabling. It also provides total electrical isolation.

For more information about these new Ethernet switches or any other Advantech product, please contact your InSource Solutions I2 Infrastructure Specialist or the marketing department at marketing@insourcess.com.
